Summary/Abstract: Wróbel examines the concept of fascism, which has recently become blurred. Certainlyfascism itself has gained new relevance, but do we still know what it is or what it could be?Wróbel distinguishes three ways of understanding fascism – as a symptom, a functionor a general ideological pattern – and explores their relationship. He focuses on therelationship between fascism as a “symptom of libidinal conflicts” and “fascism as anideology,” which becomes a pattern for understanding the world. Wróbel also questionsthe meaning of symptom and ideological pattern before asking of what fascism issymptomatic. Finally he reflects on “fascism in a democracy,” i.e. what is fascism if itis not merely political ideology or a symptom, but – following Adorno – a readiness to“accept fascism”.
