Summary/Abstract: Świętochowska juxtaposes two fictional film essays, namely Dušan Hanák ’s 322 (1969)and Krzysztof Zanussi’s Iluminacja [Illumination, 1973]. Both illustrate cinema’s evolutionfrom storytelling machine to a mechanism producing knowledge, and both explore thehuman body, questioning its integrality and normativity. The body images of the twofilms’ protagonists (selected film frames, film posters and DVD covers) are in dialoguewith the canonical humanistic representation of Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man.Another originally humanistic visual message in this triad is the Pioneer plaque from1972. Together they form a logic sequence of the Anthropocene’s failure and at the sametime they offer an opening for new post- and transhumanist alternatives.
