Summary/Abstract: Chomiuk examines the publishing series “Cuda Polski” [Wonders of Poland] with a focuson the ideological underpinning of descriptions related geography and natural history.A key notion is the landscape used to identify topographical and anthropological typesof space, both in geography and in the humanities. Exploring this notion Chomiukhighlights the interwoven hidden relationships between ideas about nature andpolitical ideas about national belonging. These relationships are rooted in the discoursesof the early twentieth century – discourses pertaining to the nation, geopolitics, ecologyand modernism.
