Summary/Abstract: Orzeszek explores representations of sexuality in the graphic and literary work of BrunoSchulz. The aesthetic category used here is pornography, which Schulz scholars havepresented mainly as a biographical anecdote, marginalising it as a methodological problem.Orzeszek reconstructs the cultural and literary context in which the ‘pornographic work’was defined in the early twentieth century. At the same time, referring to the work of suchscholars as Jean Baudrillard, Michel Foucault, Steven Marcus, Susan Sontag and LindaWilliams, he places Schulz’s work within the framework of porn studies. Comparing theaesthetics of pornography and Schulz’s work common points and divergences emerge. The key concepts in this comparison are: pornotopia, the sexual gaze, the pornographicimagination and the poetics of perversion.
