Summary/Abstract: The media influence politics to such an extent that they are often referred to as the fourth estate and the entity that defines the field of politics. Since they are the main source of information for the public they can create reality. Manipulative techniques used by mass media are particularly visible during election campaigns, because then they act as the main intermediary between voters and politicians. Due to the fact that individual representatives are competing in presidential elections, the manipulative techniques used by the media can be accurately characterized.
