Summary/Abstract: The spirituality of St. Arnold Janssen and his first congregation of the Society of the Divine Word (abbr. SVD) can be defined as perfectly Trinitarian-missionary. Arnold identified the essence of the missionary nature of the Church, precisely in the dual mission of the Divine Word and the Holy Spirit. Trinitarian spirituality is therefore the source of Christocentric and Pneumatological spirituality. In fact, they are mutually related. In case of Arnold Janssen, devotions to the Sacred Heart and the Holy Eucharist spring directly from his Christocentric devotion based on the Divine Word. This article aims to present the multidimensional beauty of Arnold Janssen’s Christocentric spirituality in his life passed on to the SVDs. It is presented in three chapters in which three fundamental parts of this spirituality are presented: the Divine Word, the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Eucharist; with a certain connection to the early and present Constitutions with some challenges for today’s spirituality of the SVD.
