Summary/Abstract: The middle of the 19th century was a time of secularization of Bulgarian culture and a time for the creation of secular literature. At the beginning of the new literature, which pushes the literature of the Middle Ages to the periphery of the cultural field, is the lyrics of Petko Rachev Slaveikov. He creates the idea of the poet in "Poet". The poet is a new figure in Bulgarian poetry. For Petko Slaveikov, the poet is a prophet. He is holy, sacred. He serves others with his poetry. His poetry is a spiritual comfort to others in a time of grief and sorrow. The lyre as a symbol completes the image of the poet. Petko Slaveykov uses categories from the already secularized Christian culture in a new way in order to use them to name new and still unknown literary realities for the Bulgarian public at that time. He conveys a cultural situation that has already happened in Russia and a Bulgarianized text by N.V. Yazikov.
