Summary/Abstract: If we were to judge by the performance of science and technology, we could say that humanity is living its zenith, that it has taken its destiny into its own hands, turning modernity into a triumphal march, a formidable success. However, we see a shortcoming; something has installed in a key position, causing us dissatisfaction and unhappiness. In this essay, by putting a few milestones to the right of classical and contemporary thinkers and writers, such as Friedrich Nietzsche, Giovanni Sartori, Umberto Eco, Byung-Chul Han, Paul Valéry, José Ortega y Gasset, Tom Nichols, Noreena Hertz, or Horia-Roman Patapievici, we try to see how and why a project of humanity, born in the Age of Enlightenment and prophesied by Immanuel Kant is giving the impression of partial failure.
