On the unofficial naming of married men in the village of Nižná in the Piešťany district

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the distribution of naming models of the married men’s names living in the village of Nižná in the Piešťany district. The structured review offers a comprehensive presentation of the unofficial (living) naming system in the given village because in the functional-structural concept of the Slovak linguist and onomastist V. Blanár, naming models represent constitutive elements of the system of personal names. Nižná is located in the west of the Piešťany district (Trnava region), further, in the north-eastern part of the Trnava loess hills near the middle course of the Výtok stream. According to the census of 2021, 545 inhabitants lived in Nižná: 279 men and 266 women. 81.28% of the population were Roman Catholics, and 13.94% were of no religion, speaking the dialects of Považie.
