Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the motif of journey as a central point of Yehuda ha-Levi’s literary work and life. It discusses exchange of letters between ha-Levi and his contemporaries and explores selected historical depictions of his character as one of the most (or perhaps the most) influential figure of Jewish diaspora in the post-biblical history. The main focus of the paper is ha-Levi’s poetry. It offers a Polish literary translation and analysis of a selection of his poems aimed at illustrating the evolution of his artistic and philosophical ideas which culminated in his ultimate postulate of journey to Jerusalem.
