Summary/Abstract: The addictive substance cocaine is one of the illegal stimulants, whose global consumption and drug addiction are growing. The strict endemic location in the Andean-Amazon region of South America, where the plant Erythroxylum coca and Erythroxylum novogranatense occur almost exclusively, makes cocaine an exotic illegal commodity. This fact brings with it at least two essential facts. The first is based on the proven fact that with increasing distance from areas of origin, the price of cocaine (street and transport) increases, the second is characterized by specific transit smuggling routes through which cocaine flows to destinations. Knowledge of both aspects can be one of the basic prerequisites for a deeper understanding of the issue of illegal production and distribution of cocaine for forensic practice
