Summary/Abstract: Royal Prussia was the most developed region of the Republic of Poland in the 18th century. Elbląg, along with Gdańsk and Toruń, was the largest city in Royal Prussia. The beginning of the 18th century was full of negative events for this city and the whole state. Already in 1700 the Northern War broke out, which lasted until 1721. At the same time, a plague epidemic broke out in Europe. In some areas it even reached several dozen percent. The aim of this article is to present the environment of the Catholics of Elbląg and to analyse the mortality rate in this group on the basis of the death book of the Old Town parish of St. Nicholas.
