Summary/Abstract: The article explores the relationship between speed and freedom in Paolo Bcigalupi’s dystopian novel The windup girl. Detailed analyses have been devoted to the main character of the piece – an artificial, genetically modified woman. The contexts for them were both the feminist, postcolonial, and posthumanist reflection, as well as the genre determinants of the novel.
