Summary/Abstract: The variety of media tools increased with the invention and spread of radio and television at the beginning of the twentieth century. This increase has led to the understanding of audio and visual media. These successive technological innovations further strengthened the position of the audio and visual media field, and caused the social influence to expand. Today, the most common mass media medium is television. The place and influence of television in our lives is increasing day by day. Television, penetrating every aspect of human life, has also had the ability to create an effective and undeniable perception, especially on “persons and societies”, by going beyond just information and entertainment purposes. From this point of view, television has become one of the "mass media tools" whose power has been proven by various researches, "which can reproduce the dominant cultural values and common judgments in a society". In television, which can appeal to the eyes and ears, the number of channels has increased and the programs have diversified thanks to the advancing technology. Especially in the last 30 years, "TV series" are shown as the most liked and followed type of broadcast on television. This intense interest attracts attention with the effect of "increasing the curiosity of the audience" as well as the "engaging feature of television series". The serials and serial characters that have entered into life have become an inseparable part of people's almost daily conversations. The series and characters that are so internalized have an intense impact on society. The TV series, which show the experiences that the audience "can't get in real life" and maybe they can't, also have impressive power in terms of socio-economics. While the domestic TV series, which are especially phenomenal in our country, are watched by large masses, they also stand out in terms of the country's agenda. In this study, the effects of TV series on society were tried to be explained based on the findings in doctoral theses.
