RELATIONS BETWEEN PERSONALITY TRAIT AND POLITICAL BEHAVIOUR

Summary/Abstract: Results of theoretical and empirical studies of personality psychologists and social psychologists, especially psychologists of political behaviour, clearly indicate that assessing or measuring the personality traits of individuals who are involved in politics, especially the professional politicians; they can get more reliable assessment of the efficiency of their political activities. Applying the appropriate psychological processes in the analysis of personality traits that have the potential politicians exhibited during their cognitive, emotional and social development, it is possible with a significant degree of certainty, to predict what types of behaviour they will probably show in their political behaviour. Psychologists’ predictions are based on analysis’ outcomes of personality traits of individuals and knowing applying serious psychological insights contained in the special psychological disciplines in psychology of personality and psychology of political behaviour. In this paper it was tried, on the basis of psychological insights established on idiographic (psychoanalytic) and on factors approach of personality, as well as on verified empirical cognition, to emphasize the importance of assessing and (or) measurement of personality traits, particularly the traits of temper, character and motivation traits of potential individuals who are expected to act efficiently, effectively and responsibly in the municipal, cantonal, entity or state, legislative or executive organs of governance.
