Summary/Abstract: Fantasy is the common name of works describing unusual worlds and surreal/unusual elements. It manifested itself mostly in the field of novels and was first proposed in 1970 by the Bulgarian-French literary theorist Tzvetan Todorov (1939-2017) to meet a new literary genre. The Turn of the Screw by Henry James (1843-1916) in American literature and Ölüler Yaşıyorlar mı? by Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar (1864-1944) in Turkish literature are among remarkable examples of this genre. The two works, which have gained fame as ghost novels, are largely similar in terms of the use of elements of fantasy. In this examination, following brief information about the genre of fantasy, the works in question were compared in terms of fantastic elements and tried to be evaluated in the contex of narrative elements such as plot, characters, time, perspective and space. Quotations from novels were also included at times to concretize the comments revealed.
