Summary/Abstract: Migration continues due to the conflicts and confusion experienced today. The migration process offers opportunities for resettlement to a safe area and access to resources. For the individual, these issues also carry uncertainties. Refugees/asylum seekers experience the migration process without planning and decisions made suddenly due to necessity. Refugees experience multiple losses by being exposed to traumatic events in the country of origin, during the migration process, and in the newly settled place. Resettlement, acculturation, and adaptation processes are more difficult for this group. Although there are not many cultural differences due to geographical proximity for refugees who usually settle in neighboring countries, settling in a different place socially and culturally can bring additional burdens on individuals, physically, psychologically, and socially. In this process, refugee children and youth are commonly defined as vulnerable and dependent. Children and young people interact with the dominant group for different reasons, such as work and education. It refers to the situation in which social identity develops, and personality formation is dynamic as a youth period feature. Education is essential in refugee youth's adjustment and psychological well-being in this process. Education for refugee youth helps them develop their skills by providing information about their new culture. Current policies shape the education system, but its results directly affect individual psychological well-being and adjustment. Schools are ideal places to provide support to refugee youth. Participation in education and successful school adjustment of refugee youth has also been associated with their psychological well-being. Acculturation with the dominant society causes us to focus on concepts such as social identity, discrimination, and adaptation. Since the interaction experienced in the education process of the youth is critical in the acculturation process, it has been discussed and evaluated in the study. The study aims to assess the education process of refugee youth living in Turkey in the context of social psychological concepts such as acculturation, social identity, intersectionality, discrimination, and adaptation. The education process contains both new opportunities and uncertainties for refugee youth. For young people’s educational opportunities are preparation for successful integration and provide a basis for psychological well-being. As a result, it is thought that learning the mechanisms developed against the acculturation process and the problems encountered in this process will contribute to the field in determining adaptation policies in the long term and have functional outputs.
