Summary/Abstract: Single Shipbroking is one of the oldest professions in the world and currently going under a paradigm shift through technology. Information technologies bring the parties to a trade closer to each other hence creating a risk over the sustainability of the middleman, the shipbroker. The aim of this study is to examine the innovations and the effects that are expected in shipbroking profession. The study was designed in qualitative method and phenomenology is preferred as the research pattern. The study group of the study consists of 15 participants that are involved in chartering. Structured interview form was used for data collection. Descriptive analysis was performed to analyze the data. Results show that digitalization will continue supporting the shipbrokers in the near future however some threats may occur in a longer period hence shipbrokers must gain additional qualities to survive.
