Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses accents outside the first syllable in words of foreign (and domestic) origin using a research in three different environments by survey and interview. The subjects of the research were people from Belgrade (urban environment), village Tometino Polje (near Divčibare) and Požega (small town near Užice). The aim was what extent the standard is obeyed. It was concluded that Belgrade keeps a long-falling accent after the first styllable, but not postaccentual lenght. This is not the case in Požega and Tometino Polje. People there, in the genitive plural of polysyllabic words of domestic origin keep the model long-lasting accent and two postaccentual lengths and follow the standard to a lesser extent (Tometino Polje). Тhe paper also analyses the role linguistic experts, media and school have in this field through the discussion with subjects. The results show that subjects are aware of a huge influence they have, but they agree that standard is not sufficiently obeyed.
