Summary/Abstract: This paper provides an overview of data from the available 15th and 16th-century Ottoman-Turkish sources regarding the district of Shestan on the western side of Lake Skadar. The detailed cadastral surveys of the nahiye of Shestan in the Iskenderiye (Skadar/Shkodër) sancak from 1570 and 1582 have been scrutinized here. They offer an insight into the ethnic composition of the Shestanis and the scope of their territory.
