Summary/Abstract: The article presents the lines of force of the study of Aliona Grati King Mihai and Bessarabia. An unforgettable unforgettable story (Bucharest: Eikon, 2021). The investigation is based on history composed of oral testimony and circumstantial documents. At the same time, it is shown as an exercise in critical admiration regarding the legend and the real person of King Michael, as well as the location of this personality in relation to the winding and moving destiny of Bessarabia. Literary projections, as far as they exist, constitute forms of resistance to the brainwashing mechanisms of official historiography and, at the same time, the means of preserving the memory. Carrying out a difficult operation of translating the image of the king from real history, as much as it can be known to mankind from indirect sources, in an auroral illo tempore, from narrative to parable, from reality to fictionality, the book imposes itself through its free, sometimes colloquial style, in the good sense of the word.
