Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the medieval conventual seal of the Cistercian monastery in Krzeszów. The convent’s seal was introduced following a decision contained in a 1335 Bull of Benedict XII and resolution of the General Chapter of that same year. The oldest preserved imprint of this seal is known from 1401. The seal under discussion remained in use until the second half of the 16th century. In accordance with the resolution of the Chapter, an image of Mary and Child was placed on the seal. The most likely inspiration for this design was an icon stored in the monastery. The seal of the convent also performed certain legal functions. The convent co-sealed documents issued by the abbots, and was sometimes a co-issuer of documents together with the abbot.
