Summary/Abstract: The main subject of the article, the existence of artificial intelligence in contemporary art is based on two critical moments in art. The first is Walter Benjamin's famous article "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction" (Benjamin, 2001) and the second is the emergence of conceptual art in the 60s. After these two turning points, the perception of the artist as a prodigy, who produces his work uniquely by combining his genius with his talent and expertise, changes. Thus, the discussions of the role of the artist; the idea that the conceptualized thought in the emergence of the work of art and the intellectual accumulation is the main source that shapes artwork; and the fact that creativity, reason, concept and context can be embodied in the center of art gain importance. As emphasized by Benjamin, the fact that the work of art, in which the artist produces everything with his own hands, can be produced through industrial tools and machines thanks to the technical possibilities and the notion that intelligence, action as a product of accumulation, perception and idea of thinking, that is, the concept comes before the objective structure in Conceptual Art are the elements that have lead to today's discourse. When we look at the debates on the transformation of ideas into form and the place of the idea of an artwork as an intermediary and mediator for the descriptive conveyor of situations and phenomena in the art history, today, it is inevitable to come across the computer, the most spectacular machine of the 2000s, and artificial intelligence in particular, as the mediator, promoter and the leading actor of this debated topic. The purpose of the article; is to answer to the question whether it is possible for artificial intelligence to exist in a way that can show the conceptual, intellectual thinking and attitude in the artist's production, in the light of these. Within the scope of the study, the story of the introduction of artificial intelligence to the art scene, the historical development of these discussions, the intellectual debates about its visibility in the art world today and the technical and scientific details are discussed. The concepts of hybrid creativity and artistic creativity are explored in the context of artificial intelligence. Subsequently, this controversial issue is drawn to the axis of Turkish Contemporary Art. In this context, in two different works from Bager Akbay and Vahit Tuna, their association with artificial intelligence and the collaborations they have realized are discussed in the context of contemporary art and artificial intelligence debates.
