Summary/Abstract: Horses have a part both in legends and in real events that have left their mark on history. Therefore, they have taken their place in the field of art history as well. They are possible to see the horse image first appeared on the cave walls and later on different surfaces on them. The artists who created this image painted the horse in a different theme and they continue to paint it. Many artists who have taken their place in contemporary Turkish painting have used horse images in their paintings. In their usage, they chose the horse sometimes as the dominant image and sometimes as a supporting image to the dominant image. This research aims to collect the artists and their works in one source, who use the horse image as the dominant image in their paintings and have stability in this use in contemporary Turkish painting. As a result of the research carried out for this purpose, it has been determined that Durmuş Ali Akça, Fevzi Karakoç, Süleyman Saim Tekcan and Erol Yıldır used the horse image as the dominant among their images and that they were stable in their usage. The specified artists and one of their own paintings were analyzed together. At the end of these analysis and research, it was concluded that the purpose of the painters was not to describe the animals in the images they used, but only to use the painting as a means of reflecting plastic values. The research was examined on the basis of the general scanning model and was prepared using qualitative research methods and techniques.
