Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to present the phenomenon of academic peregrination as a specific topic of Czech and foreign historiography, one that has been addressed since the second half of the 19th century. Czech historiography dealing with travelling for education from the Czech Lands in the 16th and 17th century is presented in chronologically ordered subchapters. The second part of the study deals with related phenomena (Grand Tours) and denominationally defined mobility (peregrinations of the Brethren and Jesuit schools). The final part of the study offers a brief look at investigations of this subject also in other countries of Central Europe (Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland) and compares their approaches and results with Czech historiography.
