Summary/Abstract: It is quite hard to distinguish precisely Njegoš’s eschatology from the remainder of his thought. He was both a poet-thinker and a theologian-thinker. Between the thoughts of theologian and poet, there is a thread of eschatology. This eschatology is in a constant tension between these two ways of thinking. Njegoš was self-taught in both poetry and theology, which is reflected in his thought and his works. There are certain misunderstandings in his treatment of eschatological themes, although one might say that, through concurrence of opposites, there appears “a holy water from your immortal spring”.
