Summary/Abstract: Author of important theories of administrative law, who wrote his work in a France led by Louis XIV, Jean Domat was a true forerunner of the classics of French administrative law. He managed to present the public law of the Old Regime in a more structured system and presented notions such as „the general order of the government”, „the general order of the Police” or „ the collective order”. Jean Domat built a theory of absolutist monarchy and theorized on the side of what would eventually become, after 200 years, a pillar of the administrative law known as public service.
