Summary/Abstract: The path of the relics of St. Arsenije Sremac, the second Serbian archbishop, is a significant question in historiography. The relics were translated due to the danger of invaders or the whirlwind of war. Beginning with the Great Migration of Serbs in 1690, they were kept in monasteries and hidden caves. Finally, the Saint’s destination in 1919 became the Ždrebaonik monastery. The paper analyses the translation of St. Arsenije Sremac’s relics from the Ostrog monastery to the Ždrebaonik monastery, which the Bjelopavlići organised on their own initiative. Without the permission of the state and spiritual authorities, they returned the relics to their tribe, since the state authorities confiscated them in 1885. This fait accompli was recognised, although reluctantly, by both secular and ecclesiastical authorities.
