Summary/Abstract: Purpose – The concept of organizational role stress, which started to find its place in the literature in the 1960s, has been the subject of research in different studies until today. However, there is still no Turkish-adapted scale measuring organizational role stress in the literature yet. This study aims to adapt the organizational role stress scale developed by Pareek (1983) which consists of 50 items, and 10 dimensions called as Inter-Role Distance (IRD), Role Stagnation (RS), Role Expectations Conflict (REC), Role Erosion (RE), Role Overload (RO), Role Isolation (RI), Personal Inadequacy (PI), Self-Role Distance (SRD), Role Ambiguity (RA), and Resource Inadequacy (RI) into Turkish. Design/methodology/approach– The five-step translation method developed by Beaton et al. (2000) was used in the adaptation stage. The questions prepared with the obtained scale were conducted to 223 respondents. In order to test the 10-factor structure in the original scale, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was firstly applied to the scale, and then confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was applied to test the structural validity of the scale. The internal consistency reliability of the scale was determined by the Cronbach Alpha test. Findings – As a result of the CFA performed, it is seen that the fit index results for both the first and second samples are at acceptable levels. Discussion – Accordingly, it has been concluded that the scale can be used as a measurement tool adapted to Turkish as given in the article.
