The Picture of Jewish Community of Międzyrzec Podlaski in Light of Protocols of the Town Sanitary Commission

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the Jewish community of Międzyrzec Podlaski during the Second Republic. The 1930s were a period of growing conflicts between the two ethnic groups coexisting side by side in Międzyrzec. This state of affairs was largely the outcome of economic competition, which also ran along ethnic lines. This was the time when the Town Sanitary Commission prepared a unique document, presenting in a rather unusual way a number of questions related to the existence of the Jewish community.
