Summary/Abstract: With the beginning of the First Balkan War, the European press received articles from the arenas of war every day thanks to the development of telegraphy. All those articles were then published in the newspapers. The First Balkan War was covered by approximately 200 to 300 journalists from all over the world, but the most active were the French newspapers which sent special reporters in the field. Many of those journalists were also sent to the territory of Macedonia. In addition to the reports covering the war, they also wrote about the everyday life of the people, the material and spiritual heritage, as well as about the cities they visited in the course of their journey. They were accompanied by photographers who left photographic evidence of the sights in different cities in this time period. Many of them would later take on the role of travel writers, and would publish books containing their impressions of this territory.
