Summary/Abstract: National holidays are important days as they gather nations around common values. The New Turkish State, which was established after the Ottoman Empire, transformed to the Republican regime on October 29, 1923. In 1925, 29 October was accepted as the Republic Day due to the contribution of the holidays to the unity of the state and the nation. Thus, since 1925, Republic Day has been celebrated in Zonguldak as well as in the rest of the country. Celebrations in Zonguldak were held not only in the city center but also in districts, sub-districts and villages of Zonguldak. We see that these celebrations are organized in line with the instructions sent from the CHP General Secretariat. In the celebrations which held in Zonguldak, official receptions, speeches, performances, balls were held and public rostrums were established. In this study, it was tried to determine how the Republic Day celebrations were held in Zonguldak between 1925 and 1938, the content of the programs and the interest of the people in the celebrations. In addition, the changes in the Republic Day celebrations in Zonguldak were revealed in the study. This study has been prepared by using The Republic Archive (BCA) documents and Zonguldak and Bartın newspapers published in the city.
