Summary/Abstract: The leçek is an example of clothing that can be seen in various regions of Turkish world and Uzbekistan, but differs from region to region, and has regional characteristics due to the fact that it lives in connection with rituals in Khwarezm. In this context, in the Khwarezm region, leçek is used as a head covering by women of various age groups, as well as various stages in a woman's life, and after her death, it is also put in the grave as a woman's shroud, and it is seen to contain implicit meanings and functions with all these features. In this sense, the leçek, which has various meanings and functions in the Uzbek society and culture, is the symbol of which period the women in the Khwarezm region were in, specific to womanhood. In addition, leçek appears as a part of the rituals performed during the transition periods in question, and rituals known as leçek toyu are held in order to "celebrate" the transition of women to their respective new periods in the Harezm region. In this study, the leçek, which has many traces of the ancient Khwarezm culture and is still in use today, with a certain limitation, and the rituals performed related to it and the verse pieces performed here were examined. In the study, which was carried out based on the data we obtained from the field studies we made in the Khwarezm region, information about the main features and functions of the leçek as a material culture element, which is a part of clothing, was given and the implicit meaning and functions of the leçek were analyzed in the context of the “leçek toyu”.
