Summary/Abstract: The study presents the Romanian eco-literature in the context of the Western nature-writting. The distinctive features of eco-literature are presented, then the works of the most important pro-nature prose writers and playwrights in Romanian literature, Nicolae Dărămuș and Alexandra Felseghi, as well as books that are only ostensibly eco-literature. The possible causes of the delayed development of this niche in the Romanian literature are discussed: the social-historical framework, the cultural peculiarities and the specificity of the literary market in Romania.
