Summary/Abstract: Sylvia Plath’s correspondence is particularly difficult to read critically. It is part of a literary corpus that was not written for a wider audience, moreover, its private nature raises ethical questions concerning both publication and public analysis. However, there is no doubt that a writer’s correspondence offers valuable insight into their oeuvre, revealing aspects that would otherwise remain unknown. I shall explore a part of Plath’s final correspondence to her mother and psychiatrist in order to highlight the relevance of letter-writing in the articulation of a literary biography.
