Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study was to assess the possibility of performing categorical, semantic verification by a patient diagnosed with primary aphasia with the speech‑language variant. The study used the method of clinical experiment. The results of the study were subjected to qualitative and quantitative analysis. The best preserved semantic relations were indicated, phenomena proving the quality of access to the mental dictionary were determined; the symptoms of degradation of the semantic dictionary were indicated; it was determined at which stage of processing disturbances occur. The significant reduction in the effectiveness of semantic verification observed in the respondent is the result of, inter alia, decline in the speed of cognitive processing, dysfunction of the concept‑meaning connections; relationship disorders within semantic categories; decrease in the quality of the processes of searching a semantic dictionary, auditory verbal memory disorders, disorders of selectivity and the ability to maintain attention, control disorders.
