Summary/Abstract: In the context of an increasing public interest in electricity and gas prices, this article aims to draw up an inventory of the European and national legislative framework on the liberalisation of electricity and gas markets. In addition, the material also presents the legislative framework for the year 2022, which changes, in part, the final price paid by final consumers and the capping measures aimed at easing the burden that citizens, state institutions and economic operators have to bear in the context of rising prices. Without attempting to provide exhaustive answers, the article also indicates, in part, the causes of the rise in gas and electricity prices and the extent to which these causes are directly or not related to the market liberalisation.
