Summary/Abstract: Researchers tend to carry out compilation studies to convey the social values and cultural codes specific to Anatolian/Turkish folk music. Many artists have voluntarily participated such projects in the common aim promote and protect Anatolian folk culture. One such an artist is Emin Aldemir. Aldemir contributed extensively to Turkish folk music by copying down and printing sheet music of Turkish folk music. He at one point was a member of the Ankara Radyosu Yurttan Sesler Topluluğu (Ankara Radio Society for National Music), and is versed in written music. This particular study shall document his work, and serve as an invaluable resource for future projects in this particular field. Equally so, it will also highlight Aldemir’s own life as a compiler, artist, performer, and educator. Our preliminary findings conclude that Aldemir’s pioneering efforts have led to the archiving of many a Turkish folk song that would otherwise have disappeared, and that he himself is very much a role model for other artists.
