Commemorative Entries for the Day of People with Disabilities on the Websites of Local Administration: A Framing Analysis

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of the analysis of materials posted on the occasion of the disabled people’s day (December 3rd) on websites run by communes, poviats, and voivodships. The aim was to indicate the main patterns of the perception of disability – understood in terms of a social problem – by public (local) administrationBased on the framing analysis, the following frames were identified: charity, medical, and social. They correspond to the models of disability known from the literature on the subject. The applied perspective also covered the frame resonance, including its reliability and the potential of impacting the audience.There was also a reflection regarding the mutual relationship between the researcher and the method, indicating the difficulties related to the interpretation of materials with the application of framing analysis.
