Summary/Abstract: The sense of solidarity in societies goes way back in human history. Societies have produced their own culture of cooperation and solidarity in this regard. In Islamic countries, this activity was carried out by foundations in the historical time. Foundations occupy a special place in Islamic civilization. It is possible to do charity with the idea of continuity through the foundation. Undoubtedly, imaret is one of the leading charity institutions established by the Ottoman Empire, which knows the importance of helping the poor and needy people. There is also a foundation institution on the basis of the imaret. Almshouses have been institutions that support the poor, travelers and students throughout history. Ilgın Lala Mustafa Pasha complex and the imaret inside are among our foundation institutions that performed important social services in their period. Fortunately some foundations and non-governmental organizations continue this tradition in nowadays.
