RAPID AUTOMATIC NAMING IN CHILDREN FROM 4 TO 7 YEARS OLD

Summary/Abstract: The speed of naming is a complex integration of many processes connected with the cognitive, perceptive and linguistic spheres. The rapid automatic naming (RAN) is the ability to reconstruct quickly a particular image and to pronounce its name. In the scienti+ c circles is incre a sing the agreement with the fact that the rapid automatic naming is becoming different with the growth of chronological age and is connected with the ability of reading. In this article is presented personal research of 137 children from 4 to 7 years old. It reveals that by children between the age of 4 and 7 the speed of naming colours and subjects does almost not differ; it corroborates the standpoint that the rapid automatic naming increases with the growth of chronological age and 13% of the examined children show up with de+ nitely low results regarding this ability. There is no proof of the suggestion that girls’ level of the rapid automatic naming is higher compared to the boys’ one.
