Summary/Abstract: Our article mainly focuses on showcasing the involvement of King Charles the IInd inthe cultural life of Romania from 1930 to 1940. He was the one to carry out the mostextensive cultural development strategy, by generously supporting people of culturethrough scholarships and awards and publishing the works of many Romanianwriters in the Review of Royal Foundations, for large print runs that were availableto everyone. Lucian Blaga was one of the writers acknowledged for their culturalactivity, the Transylvanian philosopher being among those who were in the king’sgood graces: Charles the IInd participated in the solemn sitting in which Blaga waselected member of the Romanian Academy; he also referred him for the position ofUnder-Secretary of State to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the government led byGoga and Cuza; then he appointed him Minister Plenipotentiary of Romania toPortugal and enabled him to become full professor at „Ferdinand I” University of Cluj.
