Summary/Abstract: Starting from authentic texts, excerpts from George Orwell’s novel “NineteenEighty-Four”, this article proposes a number of activities that can be used forteaching the reading skill. The activities are addressed to intermediate students,they do not present high difficulty, and are attractive for their solvers, whom theymake enjoy both literature and the English language involved in solving therespective activities.
