Summary/Abstract: The revolution of 1848/1849 in Transylvania gives a whole bunch of young people who fought hard to achieve a series of rights for the Transylvanian Romanians. This gallery also includes the centurion Matei Nicola who, starting from the autumn of 1848, participates in most of the battles on the eastern side of the west. After the revolution he completes his law studies, and soon becomes a notary in Alba-Iulia and later a judge in Abrud. He is also a strong supporter of the national cause of the Transylvanian Romanians, fighting for the national cultural actions carried out by the Transylvanian Romanians during the second half of the 19th century
