Summary/Abstract: Alexandru Borza (1887-1971) is one of the greatest Romanian scientists. Basically, he linked his name to the botanical discipline, which he studied with passion and erudition, passing on the knowledge he had accumulated to his disciples. The distinguished professor, with a remarkable contribution to the development of Romanian interwar higher education, has earned a well-deserved reputation, which since his lifetime has far exceeded the borders of Romania, being unanimously recognized by the international scientific community. Although the study of plants occupied most of his life, Alexandru Borza was a Greek Catholic priest, eminent teacher, man of the city and an authentic Romanian patriot with true feelings for the nation and for the country. In our opinion, it should be emphasized that Alexandru Borza participated in the Great National Assembly in Alba-Iulia on December 1, 1918, which decided to unite Transylvania with Romania.
