Summary/Abstract: In parallel with the change in the understanding of diplomacy during the reign of Selim III, the Ottoman Empire started to use diplomatic cryptography. For nearly half a century, simple-level "Single Alphabetic (monoalphabetic) Substitution" ciphers have been used. Over time, extensive Nomanculators (namers) have been created. It became the basis of communication in Codeencryption both in Ottoman external and internal bureaucracy. In this study, as a variant of the Ottoman general correspondence level, assigned (special purpose) ciphers are discussed.
