Summary/Abstract: Coma is a phenomenon affecting a small percentage of the population. Its consequences may be very serious, both in terms of health, psychology and society. This topic is broadly covered in health sciences, while social sciences are not particularly interested in coma research. The objective of my article is to analyze scientific texts on the subject of coma and its effects, and to identify topics covered in the scientific discourse about coma. I also want to point out how many conclusions about the psycho-social dimension of coma are derived from health sciences for social sciences. In order to map the topics present in the literature, I build a publication base, which I subsequently analyze using a content analysis method. As the analysis has shown, the topics distinguished within the scope of the coma and its consequences include, among others the identity of awakened people, everyday life after waking up and the representation of a coma in cultural texts. The conducted analysis confirms that coma and its consequences are a necessary area to explore for social sciences, especially sociology.
