Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with an analysis of the current state of public administration in the Czech Republic, articularly, with respect to the administrative burden of processes, the necessity of public administration, opportunities and limits of its modernization, the level of decentralization, the territorial development, and the crisis management. The analysis is made with regard to the relationship between the forms of organizations and the tasks of public administration. It shows the growing discrepancy between the effort to maintain the stability of forms and the changing social conditions connected with the requirements for public administration.
