Summary/Abstract: Theology of communion is the central concept of II. Vatican council. In the following analysis we reflect on how communio ecclesiology is visible and recognized in the Slovak translations of ecumenical documents of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. The terminology of conciliar texts distinguishes several expressions, which have an impact on the understanding of ecumenical affairs. In the first part of the analysis we will find semantical tension between the very word communio and community, each representing different realities of considerable importance. In the second part we will see how the council refuses „ecumenism of the return“ in the separation of terms communio imperfectum and perfectum. The third part of the analysis will show how Slovak translations of Latin phrase subsistit in represent its original meaning. Comparing original sources to Slovak translations of ecumenical documents will lead to considerable results and show possible impact on the understanding of ecumenism.
