Summary/Abstract: Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations, delusions, and extremely disordered thinking and behavior that impairs daily functioning and can be disabling. People with schizophrenia require lifelong treatment. An overlooked symptom of schizophrenia it’s cognitive impairment and the effect on the individual autonomy, this type of neurodegenerative disease could be also observed and studied in their animal counterparts such as monkeys, mice and a rising model is zebrafish for neurodegenerative diseases. As a consequence, we examined the databases for papers in which the authors discussed the modalities of inducing schizophrenia and the tests that could apply on the animal models. We discovered a total of 5 relevant articles, which were mentioned throughout this article. We concluded that zebrafish served both as a viable animal for studying schizophrenia and the test memories could be used for examining this parameter.
